Developing Costumes Evaluation

Within my costume design project i had strengths and weaknesses which allowed me to excel in some areas and not others. I began my project with the research as this could help me develop my own costume by looking at other versions of that characters costume. This helped me to determine what path my my project was going to go down. I wanted to link my characters costume design to a specific period in time so this could help me draft a costume.

I felt that my research was one of my strengths i researched into costing for the costume so it would financially suite the budget. I felt that i also did a detailed character analysis for 3 characters however i may have focused on one character more, so i could improve upon that in the future so there is more evenly spread research.

A way i would improve upon this project is by getting fabric samples and costing for the fabrics as i had more of an idea with budgeting for fabrics instead of accessories and head wear for the budget. This would have lifted my project and enhanced it. Another point i would improve on for next time is my sketches for the costumes, i felt like i needed at least 2 more so the reader had a full understanding about the costume, and how it would be constructed. With the construction side of putting the costume together, measurements need to be clear and precise so that they person assembling the costume can fit it correctly to the actor or actress. Templates would have to be made first so the fabric could be cut correctly.

Overall, i felt my project went well but not as well as i would have helped to assure that this doesn't happen again i will get a sketch book earlier so i can begin the work earlier so i then dont drop behind. I would also take some time out to go into fabric shops and make templates so that anyone could look at my project and be able to create the costume design in there.
